Why is Away Band Camp SO Important?
Students will learn and perfect marching skills during this intense week of instruction. They will memorize both music and drill with the help of an expanded staff of specialized instructors. Because of the secluded environment, directors and instructors can provide individual attention to every student and students bond as a cohesive unit. A very small staff of parents attend as chaperones.
All members of the LOHS Dragon Marching Band are required to attend band camp but it’s the most fun your student will have all summer!
A band camp information meeting will be held later in the summer. The planning committee will outline procedures, changes and will provide a packet of camp specific information.
Camp Chaperones
We charge chaperones $50 for the complete week of meals; this keeps season fees as low as possible.
Minimum of 6 chaperones ride the bus to and from camp
We keep students on schedule (wake-up, meal times, practices, lights-out)
Monitor students to insure they eat and remain well hydrated
Required to assist in day and evening activities, make evening patrols, run errands and perform various tasks for both band and camp staff
NOTICE: Chaperones who interfere with rehearsals or training will be asked to leave camp immediately.
